This hike started out well, but ended up being rough.
No other people and nice wide open walking trails where the kids could run freely.
There was more incline than we were anticipating, but overall it wasn't as much as previous hikes. We think it just felt harder because it was hot in the direct sun.
Jonah was not thrilled. We got a late start because he had a class meeting in the morning and being hot was definitely a struggle.
It was longer than we thought, so I was worried about Jane's sun exposure. She got hungry and cranky.
Scott was happy to be able to run ahead. He loves running trails.
When Perry gets tired he asks to hold my hand.
Nice sweaty family selfie.
Taking a lunch break in the spot of shade.
We have lots of motivations and games to keep little feet moving.
It was a beautiful green area. We'd like to back on a cooler day, maybe in winter even.
We got some good exercise and practiced staying positive when we wanted to complain.
In the end, John took a big one for the team. I piggy backed Perry and John shouldered Jonah with Jane still in the pouch. It was a J totem pole.
We were all ready to go home for a cool shower, popsicle, and rest.
