Star Wars Exhibit Adventure

I bought tickets to the Star Wars exhibit at the Tech Museum at Costco for John, but we decided to bring Scott since he would probably enjoy it and is still free. Instead of driving and paying to park, we took the light rail and made a day of it.
 Scott watching the movie clip
It was a well-done exhibit. It was cool to see what they used in the movies before things like computer graphics were available.
Scott was afraid of the Hoth Wampa.
They had models of various ships
 Some big, some little
Scott liked Darth Vader. There were lots of original costumes, which I liked seeing.
They also had several hands-on science exploration stations. Most went over Scott's (and my) head, but we still enjoyed playing with them.
This one showed how to create emotion through facial expression on a robot/screen.
Scott just liked talking on the "phone."
After the exhibit, we walked over to lunch. Scott put his snacks on sugar packets while we waited an exorbitantly long time for food. There were several things going on downtown, so the restaurant was packed.
Walking back to the museum, Scott wanted to run through the fountains. When it's a little hotter we want to take him back to play. It's always full of kids in the summertime.
Scott was glued to the billiard ball machine.
It's a really big display outside that kids cry to leave.
We went back to go through the museum part. Scott found a little rescue pod designed for people in tsunamis to float in until help comes.
Also a tunnel that I didn't read the significance about.
You're supposed to see how to build the blocks and balance them, but Scott just liked to put them on there and knock them off.
 John the Sharks player.
After a couple more hours, we headed back home to get ready for a friend's wedding reception.
Scott loved the choo-choo. Jonah loved all the pouch time with dad and the lack of a car seat.
We had a fun family day together.

January I

If I leave these two alone for any amount of time, there is usually mischief. I left Jonah on the blanket, but judging by their location and Jonah's pajamas I'm guessing Scott dragged his brother over to play with him.
Jonah got his revenge waking Scott up from his nap.
These are the jams we bought them for Christmas this year. Having a little Berenstain Bear time before bed.
Jonah sits happily for a few minutes now in the bumbo. Probably because he associates it with eating. I love when he's in there because he looks little again.
Lining up the trucks for Jonah. When I ask Scott to give Jonah something to play with, he frequently just moves himself over by him. This is actually better because Jonah likes watching the action around him.
 Scooching under the couch.
Another time Jonah was fussing and I asked Scott to give him a toy while I made him a bottle. He showed him his truck which, thankfully, has since run out of battery.
Giving Jonah his paci. At this rate, soon I won't have to take care of the baby at all.
 Chunky penguin.
Jonah has a very strong grip--particularly for hair.
Scott is great about giving Jonah toys and puts them right under his head so he can chew them. This time, however, Jonah drooled on his hand and Scott flipped out. I told him to wipe it off and he went to the bathroom and brought back a piece of tp to clean it up. Then he shook his head incredulously at the baby.
Scott stayed in the aisle behind me at Target and didn't come when I called him. So I went back and found him sitting in a potty seat and drinking an empty sippy cup off the shelf. Just make yourself at home, bud.
He was upset that I wouldn't let him take a ride in this car.
 Having a brother snuggle
I feel like for the most part we've found a nice balance and are having a much smoother time at home together when John's at work.

Jonah 5 Months

Check out this little chub. He loves chewing his toes.
Scott wanted a picture with the baby.
Jonah's active legs kick everything off of him.
He hit 19 pounds this month.
He's pretty much hot or cold with his mood, seldom in between. His smiles make up for his cranks, though.
Especially because he gets slap happy and laughs at anything. And what's better than baby laughter?

Family in Town

Karen and Alan flew Sarah and Olivia out to visit while Nate was out of town for work. Her little piggie tails were too cute to handle.
I love hanging out with Sarah and Scott likes having a playmate close to his age.
Lobster boys
Sarah cut John's hair while she was here. I tried to convince him to leave it like this and start a flock of seagulls style, but no dice.
Grandma Marva also visited for a couple weeks which was perfect because she hadn't met Jonah yet.
She liked him. He says the feeling was mutual.

December II

I watched my friend's daughter a few times after she had her new baby, so we made it a play group one day. Scott and his lady friends. Eating crackers and chillin' in a basket.
Jonah is able to sit in the Boppy pillow now, so of course Scott likes it again.
Doing one of his daily chores--emptying the dishwasher.
This Mr. Potato Head Santa beard cracked us all up whenever he put it on.
Smiley boy. Also, I've noticed we all wear stripes a lot. Most days at least one of us will have something striped on, sometimes all of us.
We met Santa at Christmas in the Park. Scott liked the candy cane they gave him
but not so much the actual lap-sitting.
Little Lou-Who came over to play one night, too.
Jonah tried out some oatmeal baby cereal. He seemed to like it, but could not keep it in very well.
Scott showed him how it was done with big boy oatmeal.
We let Jonah give Scott kisses and he hates it. I feel it's only fair to balance the score with them from time to time.
One of their favorite Dad activities is horseback riding.
Scott would not get out of Jonah's face when I was feeding him, so I gave him his own pillow and sippy cup. Then Jonah could eat in peace.
Scott has outgrown his shoes, so we went to get him measured and he picked out these beauties.
Scott was copying John by tickling Jonah.
He loves the attention and is very easy to get to smile.
Helping me bake bread. We actually botched this batch because I let Scott put the ingredients in and forgot the order matters when you use a bread machine. The bottom half was yummy, though.
We bought ourselves a new tv for Christmas. John got a Chromecast and was showing Jonah how to watch football and eat pie.
Scott's velcro diapers have started losing their stick and a few of them will fall off if he moves around too much. We were dying at the way he walked and the diaper lumps in his legs.
He went in the nursery and brought back a diaper for us to change him into. After we made him walk around a bunch more so we could laugh at his expense, we changed him.
Burning some of the wood from our house project discard pile. Scott loves watching from a healthy distance.
The last day of December, we had a few friends over to celebrate New Year's Eve and ended a great year together. We're excited for 2014!
