Jonah 3 months

Our little chunk has hit a quarter of a year already.
He's very quick to smile and fusses much less these days.
He's rolled over front-to-back a few times and has started to rotate while on the ground or in his crib.
He can still be slightly calmed by a pacifier and has found his hand to suck on when we're not around.
Jonah is pushing 16 pounds and filling 6-month clothes (depending on the brand).
He has sensitive skin like Scott did at this age. His little rosy cheeks are from rubbing his face in his sleep. Time for the soft, flannel Christmas sheet!
Jonah has been sleeping like an angel at night, about 8-10 hours, takes sporadic naps throughout the day and goes down without a fight. He still sees his formula container as a challenge and tries to empty it weekly.

Gilroy Gardens III

The first weekend of November was our last chance to bring a friend free to Gilroy Gardens, so we took John again. Scott and Jonah are free as well as parking, so it turned out to be a great deal just buying my pass. It was more fun each time since Scott was slightly older and more involved.

Scott sat down during one line to have some of his lunch and wouldn't get up to move ahead in line. The other kids started congregating by him. Little rabble rouser.
Any age can go on some rides, but no lap sitting is allowed. Having a baby sit on his own doesn't seem safer to me, but we followed the rule and Jonah napped through the whole ferris wheel.
I also discovered he'll fall asleep in the stroller as long as he's on his tummy rather than in the carseat.
John and I took turns on a roller coaster while the other took the boys through the monarch garden. There were butterflies this time since it's the right season.
Scott found water and I gave him a penny to throw in.
He wanted it back. He kept pointing and trying to crawl under so we moved on.
The waterfall area was also fun.
Scott was not happy about getting wet. There's a lot more drizzle lower to the ground.
He liked watching from dry ground better.
Scott absolutely loved driving this car. He steered and was serious about the entire experience. Until we got out. He pointed and asked for mo! mo! mo! Then he realized another kid was taking his seat and started melting down. I told him it was that boy's turn and he could have another turn in a few minutes. He calmed down and we went to another car ride with a much shorter line.
Ta da! At least when he cries after something we know he enjoyed it.
You couldn't tell by his face during the ride.
After a few more rides, he had figured out how to ride and smile at the same time.
Here's his mo! request in action. There seemed to be a pattern of him being hesitant for something new, then loving it, getting disappointed when it ended, then cycling back.
By this time, though, we were ready to head for home. He napped the entire drive back after having such a fun morning playing.

October Phone Pictures

These are a bunch of random, low-resolution pictures from the month.
Playing at John's softball game. A ball, dirt and sticks make for a fun night.
Reading to his baby doll. Whenever he reads aloud he seems to have the book upside down.
Cashing in our free frozen yogurt coupon.
Naptime during General Conference.
Everyone slept during the Sunday afternoon session except Alan (who was making bread), Scott (who was hyper as always), and me (who was trying to keep Scott out of trouble).
Playing with cousin Olivia. She taught Scott how to play the recorder.
Jonah napped. He and Scott are almost equidistant in age from Olivia.
Scott trying to paci Jonah. He has been getting gentler, which is a huge relief. It took a solid two months, but he's still really young so I'm pleased with his progress.
Sitting in the dentist's waiting room like a big kid. Unfortunately he noticed my absence when I went to get my teeth cleaned in the back and cried until it was over. Sorry Wendy!
Wendy pushed the buttons on these skulls at Target and Scott thought they were so funny. Not really the expected reaction.
Scott likes to bring the step stool out of the bathroom and use it as a mini chair for himself.
I was still getting Jonah out of the stroller when we arrived at the park, but Scott beelined for the teeter totter, climbed up and patted the back for me to come sit with him.
Scott convinced Wendy to get all the toys out every chance he had. He loves the blocks and stackers, but they take a long time to pick up, so I'm not as indulgent. It'll be nice when we have a play room where we can leave messes out longer.
Jonah has been super smiley, but the phone camera is slow and usually gets blurry shots of him. This was a nice, long smiley face.
We went to the breast cancer awareness walk downtown with John's company. Scott's AOptix shirt was a bit large. You can see his coworker, John, yawning in the back. It was early and chilly.
Scott walked the whole thing and people commented on how cute he was. I think the shirt-dress helped.
Jonah has been slowly coming around to the carseat. Meaning as long as he's not hungry, he doesn't scream every time he's in it.
He's also looking balder, chubbier, and more like baby Scott did.

Halloween

My little superheros.
Flying baby!
Jonah didn't mind being a sidekick this year.
I bought their costumes/pajamas from Target. Easy and reusable.
Seeing Scott run with his cape flying behind him was too fun for us.
At our ward trunk-or-treat.
I also took them to Uncle John's street parade.
Scott cautiously enjoyed the high school marching band while Jonah napped.
Someone had on a scary mask and Scott was glued to Karen's leg until he was out of sight.
Uncle John showing his neighbors pictures of his costumed granddaughters.
After the band went through twice, Scott just ran around in the open street relishing in the attention and comments on what a cute Batman he was.
Living the dream. One day Scott wants to have a big house in Willow Glen on a street that does fun holiday activities. And a boat.
In the meantime, we'll just appreciate that Uncle John shares.
Grandpa came after work and Scott ran right over for a hug.
When it started to get dark, our friends came over. Lou loved Scott's ball. Scott did not love Lou loving his ball.
She won in the end.
Scott picked up on trick-or-treating quickly. This kid loves to run.
Linc showed him the ropes.
Lou borrowed some clothes after a particularly bad blow-out, but Lauren kept the tutu for cuteness. She was a devil ballerina baby.
We went down a couple of blocks before Lincoln was tired, Scott was hyper and we were all ready for some chocolate and sleep.
It was so fun being able to experience Halloween with Scott this year. Especially because he doesn't know about candy yet.
