August II

Perry snuggle.
Jonah was sick one day so Scott and I brought food and entertainment to his bed.
Then they had some Peppa Pig time.
So big and so little at the same time.
Scott's beheaded snowman pancake. He couldn't wait to chow down.
Perry went chair to chair reading to himself.
We went to Target just the two of us and he didn't love it.
When he's really upset, he just sits down (or lies down when it's a big one) on the floor. No noise. It's so funny and doesn't bother me at all, so I hope he doesn't learn how to properly tantrum.
Taking a tubby with a Lightning McQueen soap Aunt Wendy sent.
Big boy walking to school in his overalls.
They don't like dropping Scott off, but luckily they have each other to play with while he's gone.
Then they reunite and make up for lost time.
Perry isn't into tv yet, but he did everything he could to get his brothers' attention.
Things that would have normally bothered them they completely ignored while glued to the screen.
I entertain Perry on the walk with cereal or waffles when I have to wake him up to leave for school. Sometimes he transfers asleep, but he's always awake by the time we get home.
We did our favorite family puzzle again. Perry did not help one bit. He did admire the finished product, though.
Jonah needed a picture with the puzzle since he did actually help assemble it.
Walking to the car after school. Perry stays standing, puts his hand up and says eh eh eh until you hold his hand, then starts walking.
Scott put his n1 starfighter lego together again and they played pretend with it all afternoon.
Melody gave me a bunch of peaches that were falling from her tree and I made pie.
Jonah keeps crashing when he gets a time-out. I know he's acting out because he's tired, but I also can't have him napping late in the day or he never goes to bed and the cycle continues.
Perry likes to play on the bike rack at the community center. I like to let him go at his own pace when it's just the two of us.

He's holding his hand up to push the automatic door button. He keeps it up the whole time he runs over.
Whipping up a little lunch in his carseat.
We're still getting adjusted to school every day, but it's nice to have a routine again.

Back to School 2017

The night before Scott's first day of school he picked his outfit, snack and lunch. Cold canned green beans, mmm.
I decided to buy a mini back to school session from a local photographer rather than pay for the school picture that is sometimes not cute and always expensive.
Scott wanted to bring his new backpack for pictures. Karen bought this for him--it's Rey, his favorite Star Wars character AND teal, his favorite color.
Since Jonah isn't at the elementary school anymore, he wouldn't have had pictures this year anyway. The photographer let us add a sibling for a discounted rate, so it was perfect.
I like that there were different poses to choose from and Scott was more relaxed.
Scott's teacher is Mrs. Ramirez, which he was happy to hear because it's like Cruz Ramirez. There are 8 girls and 16 boys in his class. He only goes until before lunch for the first 6 weeks, then full day.
Without knowing what to expect, I was pleased to meet the teacher and feel instantly at ease. I know she'll love Scott and he'll thrive in her class. She also has 5 bins of legos that she was going to downsize, but his preschool teacher told her if she had Scott in her class she should keep them, so she did. So far that's been his favorite part of school: legos.

Jonah is excited for another year of preschool. He has a new, young teacher and aide, Ms. Nicole and Ms. Mikaela, at the community center. His 4-5 year old class started with 7 boys and 2 girls and will get more throughout the year as kids turn 4.

He usually listens very well to other adults and is very social, so it'll be good for him to have time away from me, with peers, and getting instructions from his teachers.
He was nervous taking pictures, but I think they still turned out well. He's a cute kid.
Perry and I are going to have two mornings a week to ourselves now. I'm looking forward to some one-on-one time with him and going grocery shopping and running other errands with only one helper. I'm going to miss my big helper, though.

August I

We went to the Children's Discovery Museum with Karen, Marva, Katie and her kids. Lucas didn't love the Thomas exhibit, but the rest of the kids would have probably stayed forever.
And, of course, the water.
I love when they hold hands with each other and form a long chain. Not when we're trying to walk quickly, but it's sweet.
Scott went to a Kindergarten orientation and transferred his name sticker to his pajamas.
We went down to Monterey another day with Katie.
Perry in beach heaven.
Ghriardelli sundae as per tradition.
So many small kids to keep track of in a dark aquarium.
They love going with cousins, though.
I mostly chased Perry around while the older boys followed the other kids.
All over the place.
He was not shy in the touch pool.
Jonah likes it, too. Scott usually doesn't mind it too much.
Having a duplo day. I love when they all play together nicely.
Playing in Grandma's front yard.
Trampoline time is short lived for Perry unless he has an adult to help him.
He loves the Lightning McQueen suitcases and strolls them around the house like a best friend.
Cooking in the dirt in Melody's backyard.
Feeding all the kids at the playdate.
Perry chowed down in Nora's seat.
Jonah took a nap and we had to wake him up before we ruined his bedtime. Perry was happy to oblige.
Who doesn't want to wake up to Perry snuggles?
And a minute later he's painting the bathroom floor with toilet water. It's not all sunshine and rainbows.
But they do love each other.
We met Becky and her kids at Vasona park. I was on baby duty while she took the other four on the carousel.
We rode the train, then played on the playground until lunch time.
They have a cool plane kids can climb on.

Waiting in line at Ikea for a return. Their customer service lines are ridiculous. It's convinced me it's not worth taking anything back. The traffic driving there and back doesn't help, nor the fact that 3 out of the 4 times we've gone the childcare has been closed for the day with no other explanation.
Scott wanted me to show him his green-looking blue eyes.
We sat in the quiet room at church while John gave his talk.
Perry looks like a grown-up.
He's still our baby and we still squeeze his cheeks and kiss him every chance we get.
Entertaining himself during Relief Society with the binder.
Helping himself to a show.
Scott drew a ctr ring in chalk and wanted me to take a picture to show Daddy.
Happy morning baby.
We really soaked up some fun these last weeks of school-free summer.
