Before Karen and Alan left town for Christmas, they stopped by to have dinner and exchange gifts.
Scott was really excited to rip the paper from his present.
They bought him the truck he fell in love with at the Sebras' house.
The truck is pretty loud/obnoxious, but he loves it so much.
Jonah didn't care about gifts as much as chewing his hand and being held, but he received a nice Little People Nativity set that is also tasty.
On Christmas morning, John and I woke up and made Belgian waffles with strawberries and cream for breakfast. My mom, Amanda and Russell came over and Jonah woke up in time to party.
We were at Brian and Annie's Christmas Eve party until 11 the night before, so Scott was sleeping in pretty late. We ate and opened each others' gifts, but Scott and Jonah's presents piled up on the couch. They had so many!
Scott rolled in around noon and wanted to snuggle.
Then Amanda started handing him presents to open and he perked up.
She bought him these glasses from Disneyland and was hamming it up for her.
They open into Harry Potter-looking glasses, which my nerdy heart loves.
Jonah is usually interested in watching Scott, and paper ripping was no exception.
Scott trying out his cooking apron from my mom.
Playing with Russell and stockings. Scott wanted to play, so we let him take a break from presents and just take his time all afternoon. One of the perks of being the only kid at Christmas.
Jonah sat around and chewed on wrapping paper. Next year when he's not a baby and Scott is older we'll probably have a different Christmas, but we were really enjoying this one.
When Scott finished eating we pulled out this chair from my aunts and grandpa.
He would not get out. If we wanted him to open something, we had to hand it to him in the chair. I tested it out later and he had a screaming fit. Scott's usually pretty good about sharing his toys, especially with family members, but this chair was in its own category.
Scott helped open most of Jonah's gifts, but would hand one of us the present and give Jonah the paper to chew afterward.
I thought Scott would like this mixer since he loves mine, and it was definitely a hit. He sat in his chair stirring everything in it and lost interest in present opening again.
Amanda and Russell had to break out the big guns. They bought us a wagon, which Scott left his chair to sit in.
It's a pretty swanky ride with back rests and cup holders.
John assembled it and took him for a ride. Waving bye-bye.
We talked to my dad, who hadn't made it because of a car accident, and were able to pick him up and bring him over, then Amanda and Russell had to go to their next gathering.
The five of us at dinner were much quieter than the Blank party the night before, but it was still a tasty meal and we had a nice leisurely evening together.
What a nice laid back Christmas. I sure wish my kids had slept in till noon. Looks like Scott got a lot of fun presents. I love his face in the one with the truck my parents got him, and that chair is awesome! I like your waffle breakfast too.
