Christmas at the Cabin

On Christmas Eve we had a nativity with all the cousins. Perry made a great baby Jesus.
Katie and Sarah made the cutest costumes for the kids.
 Our pink-eyed wise man.
I just love those beardy wisemen.
Perry was a little chunky for a newborn.
On Christmas morning the boys ate breakfast and opened stockings before getting ready.
Poor Jonah's eyes were so puffy and red when he woke up. We'd started drops on Friday night, but it took 3 days to really improve.
Ryan and Christian cleared out snow that was up to Jonah's waist so we could drive down the street to church. It was a short sacrament meeting with singing and a Christmas message. (And a quick sanitisation of Jonah's chair).
When we got home we took a group picture and took turns opening presents.
Doesn't matter what Perry opened, it all went straight for a taste testing.
Jonah shooting Bret with his Star Wars speeder from Joseph and Adelaide.
Scott loved his BB8 jacket.
Joseph and Adelaide gave Scott a Star Wars doodle book and he asked Christian to read him every page.
Jonah showing his pigeon shirt. He makes Karen read him Mo Willems books every time we go to their house, so this was a perfect gift from her to him.
The highlight of Jonah's day (and probably ours) was his Buzz Lightyear. He was SO excited.
Perry happy to be in on the action.
Scott could not believe his eyes--an N1 Starfighter Lego set from Grandma and Grandpa. His face lit up and he seemed like he was about to smile, but
he noticed it said ages 8-14. He was so disappointed that he couldn't play with it until he was older.
John told him he could still use it now, and his delight returned.
Scott doesn't show his excitement as quickly as Jonah, so it was a big deal to see him outwardly happy about something.
He took it around and showed everyone.
He couldn't contain his excitement. It was fun to see.
Jonah, on the other hand, was enthusiastic about his Buzz from the start.
He took him for a flight around the room
totally enraptured.
Perry got a Julie snuggle and a bottle of warm milk.
He also enjoyed some glitter from a few low-hanging ornaments.
Charlotte playing in the wrapping box.
Presents certainly aren't the reason for Christmas, but seeing little kids opening gifts definitely adds joy to the holiday.

  1. Scott cracks me up with his puzzled/disappointed expression when he thinks he has to wait 3 years to play with his Legos. That would be a really mean gift it that was true!

  2. Jonah's pink eye looks like pink face! It makes me wince every time I see it. But evidently he didn't dampen his enthusiasm.

  3. Love the pic of Perry and the ornaments under the tree. He was a happy baby Jesus, and you're right--the nativity costumes are great.
