Central Park

After a few days of very little play time or space, the  boys loved Central Park.
They climbed rocks that Jonah said looked like marshmallows (We're not sure why? I didn't even know he knew what a marshmallow was.)
Grandma entertaining herself. She kept Facebook apprised of all our adventures.
Stretching his legs. Scott actually walked everywhere in the city (over 10 miles one day!) without a complaint. He's an excellent traveler.
Helping Jonah reach him.

I bought the boys these shirts in the next size when I bought their Easter shirts because they were on sale and I loved them. I've been waiting months for their fall pictures and decided to try to take some on our trip.
I was so bummed when the filter on our camera broke (again) and was jammed, so I thought I wouldn't be able to get any pictures. I just had to focus the camera around the crack, which wasn't ideal but worked out.
Finding rocks
running free
collecting sticks.
John found a nice bridge to take a family picture on, so we headed over there to wait for him to come back from the temple.
Setting up the lighting/checking for lens cracks in the picture.
The boys played with leaves while we waited (the blur across his hands is from the crack).
They liked shoving them through the bridge's openings. People kept stopping to watch them, lots told us how cute they were and some took pictures. Kids were a rare sight in NYC, especially two of them in one family.
Finally John joined us and we took a quick family picture. A little light editing and it'll be ready for our Christmas cards.
Then we ran to find lunch and head to the subway so Karen could catch her flight home and we could go to the train station.

  1. Jonah was on the right track. The rock formation looks like basalt -- from volcanic overflow -- and underwater basalt is called pillow basalt. It's possible that area was once below sea level. Marshmallow sounds sweeter. A future geologist in our midst? Or just a writer with good sensory adjectives?

  2. What would NYC think of 3 kids in the same family? We take large families for granted living here in ID. In fact, we are rare on our street to only have 3. Love your Christmas card this year! Hugs for your sweet boys.
