4 Months

We have ourselves a chubby baby.

16 pounds (73rd percentile), 26.25 inches (90th percentile) and 16 inch head circumference (13th percentile). Tall, chubby, with a bean head.
I started him on Tylenol before his shots and overall he was much happier this time. He didn't nap well, was slightly cranky and feverish, but then slept solid from midnight to 10 in the morning and woke up cheerful.
He can move and play with his toys now.
And is an inquisitive little guy.
And smiles easily. He also laughs now, but it sounds like a whine with grunting and an occasional squeal.
He has grown so much!
Even his hair is filling in on top, but it's light and he still looks bald.
He is easily distracted: books (above) and trying to lunge forward (below).
His first third of a year has flown by and he is a fun kid to have around.

17 Weeks

Scott has become flirtatious. He'll give someone a big, gummy smile, then turn and burrow into my shoulder.
We hired Joseph one afternoon to help us work on another wall of the house.
Grandma helped us by watching Scott so I could prime, too.
Our renter moved out last week and right in time because people dropped off several loads of laundry for me to wash for a clothing drive.
Ricky had a long layover in San Francisco on his way to Oregon so we picked him up at the airport and went to dinner.
Scott was very excited to see his uncle.
It was a few days before his birthday, so we celebrated while we were at In-N-Out.
He wore this hat so we could find him easily at the terminal.
I felt great this week and started exercising again with this home video while Scott sleeps. One morning he woke up early and craned his neck to see what was going on.
He rolled over and lifted himself up. I think he has a crush on Jillian Michaels.
Lookin' cool in his baby shades.
Little Pooh playing with his dad.
He really fills this outfit now. One too many honey pots.
My clothes are snug, too, but I'm just happy to fit in them again.
All dressed up for his first wedding reception.
The bride was excited to meet him.
I think they look about the same size. Handsome little chunk.

Family Picture Entertainment

I wanted a picture of the three of us. John tried his best.
We were laughing at Scott's expression on the camera and John commented on his gums showing too much.
Which led to his "less gummy" smile, which made me crack up.
 Which for me means cry.
Which means instant red, puffy eyes. Maybe next time.

7-12 Week Videos

I can't remember which videos I've already posted and I'm getting behind, so here is a whole bunch.
John the puppeteer:
Scott looking up at his lamby mobile. At the time this was the only distraction that kept him happy for a few unsupervised minutes.
He loved the rattles on Lincoln's bouncy seat. It's crazy that he can reach them himself only a few weeks later.
He loved his swing until he developed a distaste for his carseat.
Scott loves sucking on his hand. He also threw in a little bonus if your volume's on.
Trying to lick the milk through the glass.
He's very strong and loves being upright, but feels the same way about sit-ups as I do. Check out his grunt.
Just like his dad, Scott loves cheese. He can't wait til he can take a nice, big bite.
At night Scott will often get a burst of energy and he lets it out the only way he knows how. We try to encourage his flailing so can wear himself out and get to bed.
One night he was in his crib, but not sleeping. John left him in there to see if he'd maybe fall asleep on his own. We learned that he entertain himself for quite a while. His room was dark, so this is only audio:
He started trying to sit up on his own. He is not content to be flat anymore and does this whenever we put him down.
I think that brings us up through 12 weeks old.

Father's Day

We gave John a Belgian waffle maker and a puzzle for Father's day.
We watched Stake Conference online at home and Scott decided to give his dad another surprise.
He kept rolling over onto his stomach!
(and off of his blanket)
Sometimes he'd pause half way through for a little finger sucking, then get back to business.
He did it 5 or 6 times in a row.
We had dinner with both of our families, but brought the food over to Karen and Alan's to eat since we're having a heat wave and they have air conditioning. Scott dressed for the occasion.
After dinner he went down for a little nap upstairs.
I was patting his back to help him go to sleep and accidentally joined him.
Then both grandpas opened presents and we had some delicious ice cream Katie made.
Alan is reading Lucas this book we bought for him at Hicklebee's. It's so cute and funny.

Talkin'

Scott is a happy little guy.
He likes his opinion known and communicates as often as possible.
I put a few clips together so everyone can get a feel for how vocal he is.

16 Weeks

Scott had a very full week. Napping at Brian and Annie's during Joseph's homecoming family dinner.
Helping my mom move.
He wants to be a milk delivery man when he grows up.
Everyone came over Monday night for enchiladas.
While Joseph tried out the new Zelda game, Alan took a much needed rest.
Karen played with this little bud.
I went to get Scott from his nap and he had turned himself sideways like this.
He's put himself on more of a schedule this week, which has been wonderful.
I don't want to jinx anything, but he's slept in his own bed four nights this week for about 6 hour stretches.
And he takes an early afternoon and a prevening nap, each around 1-2 hours long.
Scott was introduced to his first non-milk food: watered down apple prune juice.
Then we waited. And waited.
Then finally some relief! Luckily Dad was around for the celebration/clean-up.
He slept really soundly after that.
The missionaries came over for dinner and Elder Leva played a Tongan hymn while they both sang.
Scott loved dancing along.
He was in a trance the whole time watching the ukulele.
We went for a long walk Saturday night and Scott fussed when flat in his bassinet. John sat him upright and he loved it.
He knocked out in a few minutes.
So we switched the bassinet out for the big boy seat in the stroller.
 He loves it.
Especially the straps within eating reach.
