Balloon Birthday Shoot

Our new camera came in the mail and I was anxious to try it out on my favorite subject. We went up to Katie's and did a photo shoot for Scott's first birthday while she taught me some tricks (she has the newer model of the same camera).

Next she'll need to teach me how to edit pictures. Compare hers (above) to mine (below).
The balloons were not cooperating in the wind, but Katie still managed to get some cute shots.

Definitely my favorite:
We tried some indoor ones, but by this point Scott was tired and hungry.
Still smiley, though.
He's just so excited for his birthday!
Thanks again, Katie, we love them.

51 Weeks

Scott is no longer afraid of crawling outside.
We tell him he can play outside when he starts to walk, but he really loves crawling.
Trying to climb into the tub. He also loves tubby time.
He loves watching Rocky and figured out how to open the screen door to go outside and play with him.
Playing in the laundry basket was fun until he couldn't get out. He did not love it in there.
He does love playing with the recycling.
Scott entertains me so much and I love documenting his adventures so I can show John and sometimes we look back and remember everything.

Computer History Museum

Saturday morning John put in the rest of the recessed light housing. Then we went to check out the Computer History Museum because Alan's IEEE membership gave us free entrance this weekend.
Alan taught me about things like slide rules and punch cards for computer programming. Most of the displays were above my head, but I did have one of these back in the day from my uncle.
Scott made a new friend. She followed him around and patted him on the head.
He liked finding the glowing signs in each room.
And taking advantage of a shoulder ride for an ear lick. John said it was tickling him, but the picture looks more like biting and wincing in pain.
When we came home Alan made dinner while I corralled Scott and John installed a door in his water closet frame.
Slow and steady progress!

50 Weeks

Scott likes to skip naps on Sundays since we have afternoon church this year. He is so tired by 4:30 when we get home. He clings to your leg while you make his bottle. I think he knows what's coming.
We woke him up after 2 1/2 hours so we'd have a chance at getting him to sleep that night. He was not happy about it. I love his sweaty nap hair.
He ate an entire avocado then used the highchair tray to finger paint.
Then he and his clothes took a bath.
I highly recommend having your in-laws stay with you. I love taking turns cooking dinner.
My jogging buddy and I participated in our first 10K on Saturday. We met my goal of finishing without stopping to walk and were just under her goal time. Hooray!
Scott scoping the incoming joggers to find me.
He and John were a welcome sight at the finish line.

Lauren's Shower

I threw a little diaper shower for my friend Lauren this week. It was nice to have an excuse to use so much pink! I've been outnumbered by boys in this house for far too long.
Katie helped me make pink paper dot chains
 and pennant garlands.
We had pink treats, of course.
 Raspberry lemonade in baby bottles.
And had a diaper activity where you write notes to the parents for those late night changes.
Then the camera battery died and guests arrived. There was a onesie clothesline and the other garland in the family room where we all squeezed in. It was a fun night visiting with friends and Eloise's diaper supply is now well-stocked, so win-win.

49 Weeks

This has been a great week for pictures. Scott literally stuffing his face.
Pulling the movies down.
This is what happens when I ask him to stop.
Getting ready for a bath
after using his banana as mousse.
Found the chocolate powder in the cupboard. He was really upset when I didn't let him have that back.
Still coming in our bed during the night. He likes to wedge himself between our pillows.
 Found the almond syrup.
Helping unpack Grandma and Grandpa's food boxes.
He found some treasures in there.
Playing with his best friend, balloon.
Scott gets into everything, which can be tiring, but it's fun to see him exploring and watch how his mind works.
