30 Weeks

Scott loves John and John loves Scott.
John dressed Scott for church. Lookin good!
He was getting irritated with his dinner, so I gave him a snack. After 2 ounces of milk he was ready to get back to business with his carrots. (Rest assured he gets organic food, so there is less risk of nitrate poisoning. His pediatrician said no carrots, but I read that by 6 months his stomach should be able to process nitrates and nobody I talked to was told to avoid carrots with their babies. Just to be cautious I only give him organic carrots and it's mixed with rice cereal. The doctor also said to use brown rice or wheat cereal, but someone gave us their extra rice cereal and we use that, too. So I've decided to switch pediatricians because she increases my already high anxiety level.)
Since our pediatrician also banned Orajel (benzocaine can cause methemoglobinemia) Scott has been crankier than ever before. Which actually isn't that cranky. But one prevening I could not get him to cheer up, so I put him on the front porch. Just being outside lightened his mood:
We also get little doses of Tylenol from time to time. Those make us super happy. See that little tooth?
 Here's a closer shot:
We also try the jumper. Scott likes being in there if you're hanging out with him. But if you leave the hallway he gets lonely.
John wanted to play with Scott after work and woke him from his nap to do so. Scott consequently had a hard time staying energetic by dinnertime.
He chews his fingers when his teeth are bugging him. I took this because his hair was so fluffy after his bath.
He's tired of being called bald just because he has fine, light hair.
So I spiked his hair for him. He likes the mohawk look.
Our friend Heather came over for lunch and brought Scott this hat.
He's been sleeping 10-12 hours at night and napping once instead of twice during the day most of the time. One night he slept 13 hours and woke up super happy.
Since he sleeps so long we've been putting extra liners in his diaper to keep him dryer. It looks ridiculous!
His favorite part of life right now is eating big boy food. This little net feeder holds chunks of food that he can suck and chew on.
He loves being able to hold it himself and I love not freaking out about him choking to death. Plus, now John and I can eat meals together without taking turns spoon-feeding Scott. Win-win-win.

29 Weeks

Scott loved licking John's coconut popsicle, so we made him his own by freezing coconut milk.
He loves them.
We use this baby food maker (a shower gift from Annie, Hailey, Lizzie, Patty & Jan) to make all sorts of food combinations.
Scott loves them all. He seems to prefer thicker textures, especially avocado.
Sometimes we have to ward off starvation with a little bottle before he can eat breakfast. He'll wake up too hungry for patience with those tiny spoonfuls.
Out of all the toys he could have played with, he chose his diaper bag straps.
He typically goes for whatever he's not supposed to have.
John was working on the water heater pipes one night
and Scott buckled on his tool belt to help out.
We went to visit Scott's Great-Great-Great Aunt Marilyn.
Scott was mostly interested in their dog, Dandy, but Marilyn and Barbara seemed to appreciate the company.
After several weeks with Jillian, I tried out my Body Attack training video. SO not ready for that yet. Scott preferred the music and fun Australian accents, though. Spot on!
He has been really fighting sleep at nap and bedtime, but has been sleeping really well once he's out. I guess it's a trade-off.
He stayed up late one night to watch the BYU-Utah football game at Uncle John's.
Football didn't do much for him and once again he found the dog. Poor Red.
He fell asleep on the drive home and was out for 12 hours--would have been longer but we woke him up to go to church. Silly ol' boy.

Before and Current

John bought our house 3 years ago this month. Rather than think about what we need/want to work on next in our house (kitchen, guest bath, landscaping, vents, blinds, roof, fence, driveway, etc.) I'm trying to focus on how far we've come. I tried to take pictures from the same angles as when he moved in to compare. We've made a lot of progress, especially considering the extra projects that aren't visible (termites, insulation), but for the most part the pictures do the talking . . .
Front of the house:
(new windows, siding paint, front door, took down antenna)
Entrance:
(new door, removed tile, refinished hardwood, new baseboards, paint)
 Hallway:
(removed carpet, refinished hardwood, paint, replaced light, baseboards)
Dining area:
(paint, light fixture)
Kitchen:
(Not much has changed yet, but the appliances help. Replaced garbage disposal, took off light covering, paint)
 Other side of kitchen:
(replaced wood paneling with drywall)
 Laundry room:
(beautiful new washer! I love this thing!)
Bonus room:
(in progress)
 Family room:
(paint--the color seems the same in these pictures, but it was blue clouds before and now it's grayish, baseboards, removed carpet, refinished hardwood)
 Other side of living room:
(removed wood paneled wall, paint, new sliding glass door, and refinished hardwood--which I will mention in every single room because it was such a huge, nasty project)
Master bedroom:
(paint, new fan, replaced picked-up-from-side-of-road "dresser" with a classy Ikea one)
Other side of master:
(took off doors, refinished hardwood)
Master bathroom (master meaning attached to the bedroom, not larger):
(smaller cabinet, removed butterfly wallpaper, wall grips, and floor squares, replaced floorboards, vanity, put in linoleum, paint)
Shower:
(took out door frame and replaced with curtain, fixed leak, recaulked, new shower head and fixtures--not shown)
Guest bathroom (a.k.a. monstrously large bathroom where two or more people could simultaneously brush their teeth):
(not much yet--fixed a leak, painted the door, recaulked the tub)
 Guest bedroom:
(painted, removed some shelves, baseboards, refinished hardwood, new fan. Currently just storing junk that was in the bonus room)
Nursery:
(removed paneling and doors, painted shelves and room, put in beadboard, new fan, baseboards, refinished hardwood)
 Other side of nursery:
(made a cute baby prop for decoration)
Backyard:
(replaced shed. Probably the only area that looks worse than when we moved in. I say we'll work on the outside when the inside is done.)
Although we have this hand-me-down lawn furniture now from Brian and Annie that was hand-me-downed from Jan, so that's an improvement:
That concludes our grand house tour. See you in three more years.
