January

My little buddy.
Bacon!
Always willing to help in the kitchen.
Some of us could use some more kitchen practice.
Her first pedicure. Amanda gave her nail polish for Christmas and John painted her toes. She loved it.
Extra soft and fluffy blow-dried hair.
Silky smooth.
We put together a shed for the backyard, which Jane used as her own little room.
It gave her major static.
We went out for a morning in downtown Los Gatos. First stop, cookies from Icing on the Cake.
Then a quick errand at Sur La Table and Anthro. We were feeling so posh.
Then some car watching at the library
and picking up a stack of books to bring home. I love being able to take Jane out with me. Taking kids places one at a time is so nice and I really missed it during covid.
They cannot be separated.
New library books means the boys disappear
and sometimes the pipsqueak.
They'll read all over the house.
They've been really into graphic novels. Scott and Jonah like to read the same books and talk about them. Sometimes they finish one and immediately start it over again. If it's not too long, Perry will join in as well.
Jane just goes along with them and pretends she knows what's going on.
Sunday afternoon at the Rose Garden.
The fountain was making us look blue.
A rare sighting of Perry in dress clothes. He typically opts for comfort instead.
Jane, on the other hand, goes for style every time.
Perry took a break from playing and looked like an album cover.
Jane runs with glee
Monday music class
then library and playground. It was a good morning for a toddler.
Cooking with the Duplos.
Trying not to smile.
Giving John a work break to read.
Doing her part for the environment. Gotta save those turtles.
The results of one oreo+Jane.
The crabcake needed a nap by 10am.
Then she was sweet as can be with her lambie.
So much love.
What a cutie.
I took Jane to get her first haircut.
Jane has always had great hair that grew in nicely and evenly. Most babies don't, so I was very appreciative. It made styling her hair much easier. It was getting very tangled at the ends where it was dry and probably chlorine damaged, so it needed a healthy trim.
So cute! I wanted to do more of a bob, but she really likes having her hair braided, curled, or ponytails, so we left it long enough to do fun things with it.
Stealing Perry's backpack after school.
Someone else got a haircut as well. He's looking too grown up for my taste. And anemic, but that's just the lighting.
Scott and Jonah had baseball tryouts for little league. After not playing for 2 years, they did really well.
They saw a squirrel bury something in the yard and went to see what it was--a peanut!
Here's our peanut.
Her shoulder smile.
Stealing Jonah's ukulele.
Insisted on carrying my bag.
Casually watching a little Hawkeye after her bedtime.
Creating a masterpiece in the front of school while we wait for older siblings to get out.
We went for a hike up Belgatos.
The regular route was closed, so we went around the neighborhood side.
John hurt his neck, so there were no shoulder rides this time.
Luckily Jane cooperated with that plan and walked.
Her head getting stuck in her shirt reminded me of Harley Quinn.
We then had half a month at home sick.
We ventured out to Vasona as our first outing besides pcr testing.
The boys were particularly stir crazy after feeling well, but staying home with low energy parents.
They really needed some time to run free.
Nature is always a good idea for them, but particularly after being cooped up.
