I convinced John to hire someone to do the walls in the play room. He was dreading doing them and our free Saturdays never come often enough. He spent several weeks getting the room ready.
He added in some insulation where it was missing. He also puttied up the old vent hole on the other wall, fixed the drain pipe and replaced the hose for the washer and dryer.
He put trim inside the window frames.
He finished adding firring strips to make the walls flush and ran the electrical wiring to bring the outlets up to code.
This is what it looked like the night before the contractors came.
In one day, two guys put up all of the drywall on the ceiling and walls.
(Scott did not like the hammering)
Over the following week, another contractor added tape and mud to the room. John helped with the texturing.
Then John sanded the walls slightly and we took turns scrubbing the floor until it'd been washed 3-4 times.
On Saturday, John spread a leveling agent to seal the wall where there was once a garage door, putty a few missing spots in the cement and make the corner smooth for tile.
Now we're waiting for that to harden and trying to pick tile. We bought primer and a ceiling fan, so there's still plenty to do in the meantime.
Looking good--another milestone reached!
ReplyDeleteNice! That room is really coming along! I can't wait to see the finished product.
