Lucas' Park Party

We went to Pleasanton to celebrate Lucas' fourth birthday. Scott loved the playground.
It was meant for older kids and made me so nervous, but John dutifully followed Scott all over the place.
Scott likes older kids. This boy was sweet and let Scott watch him play.
He couldn't figure out how to work it without the boy's help.
 So big!
He was surprisingly good at the climbing wall.
John would support his feet and he'd go right up.
This slide was too big for him. And I think poorly designed.
So we went to the baby section.
He loves swings with John. Dad always pushes higher and harder than mom.
It was a little cold and very windy, but Scott loved walking around the splash pad.
He liked smacking the water. Then he ventured further and was standing next to a sprinkler as it went off.
He froze in squat position and cried until John ran and picked him up.
Most of the family playing in the dune/stream area.
Scott watched Neil play with the water until he was somehow waist-deep in it again.
He was happier about it this time, though.
Then when his hands and feet felt frozen I dried him off again and re-dressed.
These two have so much fun together.
I didn't add the pictures I took of Lucas, since I figure his mom will, but we hope you had a happy birthday! Thanks for inviting us to your party!

Afternoons

Before I started my class and we had free time, Scott and I did fun things in the afternoons. He gets stir crazy after his nap until John gets home and we both like to get out and try new activities.
Sometimes we visited John at work for a walk around the park.
We took his friend, Anna, and her mom, Becky, to a drum class at the library.
 They really liked the maracas.
We went to help with a Relief Society quilting project. Scott and Anna ate goldfish and chased each other around the gym.
We tried out the Lego activity at our library, too. They had bins of Duplo blocks for littler guests.
We also have play dates at our houses or go to the park. It's fun to see them starting to interact while they play now.
When Anna is busy, we get bored and have to find new ways to entertain ourselves.
I'm all the more motivated to finish my schoolwork so we can start getting out of the house again soon.

Dad Time

I finally started my capstone class that I've been putting off since Scott was born. He's consequently had a lot of dad time lately. He's turning into a mini-John.
Reading the paper with breakfast
I bought them a kid bike seat and they've enjoyed several rides together.
John was making carrot cake for Mother's Day and Scott wanted to watch. I gave him his pan to play with and he put the peeled carrots in it and started stirring with one of them.
John didn't heat up Scott's food fast enough, so he took the goldfish from his diaper bag and snacked on them while he waited.
Karen, Alan and Joseph found an apartment, so we were helping them get packed up one night. Scott found the salt shaker. He definitely gets his salt love from his father.
Other than General Conference, Disneyland and one Saturday where he had to go into work all day, John's been chipping away at the play room on the weekends. Literally chipping. This cement slab is gone now so we can put up the drywall on that side.
Scott mimics John with his own tools.
I'm not sure John is that smiley while he works, though.
Maybe if he had his own cute work bench . . .

Mother's Day

It's hard to believe that this dapper young man
was this squishy baby last year.
John had just woken Scott up from a nap and he was tipsy. He fell over trying to walk, then saw the camera and instead of crying, he stopped to pose.
My mom and Amanda came over for Belgian waffles before church.
He loves having company over and showing off/playing.
John changed into khakis and then they matched. Scott's mouth is full of watermelon.
Me and my little guy.
And my littler guy.

Emma Prusch

There's a free farm park (and free parking!) in East San Jose that we went to check out with the Naylors one morning.
Scott liked walking after the birds until the black chicken turned and walked towards him. Then he sat down and cried. After that he looked at them from a distance.
Linc and Lauren
Scott didn't take his eyes off of the cow.
He liked watching the pigs
until they came close to him.
He enjoyed stealing Lincoln's food during their picnic. The chickens and roosters just walk around the whole place and aren't shy.
Little Piggy Lou
Linc loved riding the tractor
Scott loved making me nervous by standing on the seat while I tried to take his picture.
It started to get too hot and we headed home, but we'll definitely be going back!
