Amanda's 22nd Birthday

We celebrated my sister's birthday while my brother and aunt were in town. John barbecued shrimp, chicken and veggies.
Rick taught Scott how to kick the ball while he picked leaves from a weed and brought them to my dad one by one.
Meanwhile Jonah slipped into a milk coma while Amanda held him.
The spread, including rice, homemade bread and the strawberry spinach salad she requested.
Opening presents. She and Russell were really excited about the popcorn kit.
Scott was excited about making the tissue paper into a ball and playing catch with his grandpa.
22 candles on a hot milk cake.
I love Scott's face as he watched Amanda blow out the candles.

Giving goodbye/goodnight kisses to everyone
Hope you had a happy birthday Manda!

Jonah's Blessing

On Sunday, the 13th, John blessed Jonah in our ward.
Jonah was nice and calm and looked very sweet in his blessing outfit.
It came with a bonnet, which he didn't care for.
Coincidentally, neither did his brother.
We had a family dinner at Brian and Annie's house after church to celebrate Brian's birthday and Jonah's blessing.
Katie took a few pictures for us.
Scott frequently asks to hold Jonah and likes to kiss his head.
Jonah was hungry and Scott wanted to get down and play with the orange he and his cousins were using as a ball, but I really wanted a family picture in their beautiful yard while all of us were dressed up.
I'm bouncing him here so it's a little awkward, but pictures of me are rare so I still like it.
Scott and Lucas liked watching Daphne, the cat, through the bedroom door.
Amanda, Jessica and Wendy visiting while Scott played. He's throwing the ball to Jessica in this picture and hit her right in the head after I took it.
Sarah and Olivia were in town and able to come to Jonah's blessing, too.
Scott loves Brian and Annie's garden.
Grandma holding baby Jonah.
My mom and Ryan were sick and unable to make it, but we still filled a few pews with family.
The blessing circle. Jonah was apparently getting bored with pictures.
The Grandpas.
Jonah and his Aunt Amanda. She has been coming over before class one morning each week to help me, but she usually plays with Scott and hasn't had much quality baby time yet.
And of course dessert. Cherry cream used to be my favorite pie, but I made both and this one won.
John had a peanut butter pie at work several weeks ago and we recreated it with The Pioneer Woman's recipe and added whipped cream and Hershey's sauce on top. We want to make a few tweaks to it next time and will most likely try them out at Thanksgiving.

Jonah 2 Months

This smiley guy has filled his overalls.
At his check-up Jonah was 12 lbs 12 ounces (55th percentile)
23 inches (43rd percentile)
and had a 16 inch head circumference (86th percentile).
Jonah is chubbier, shorter and has a more massive dome than Scott did at his age. I love his baby chub!
Scott wanted to get on the bed for a picture, too.
He reached his hands out and I thought he wanted Bubba cow in the picture like Jonah had, but wasn't satisfied.
He actually wanted baby Jonah with him.
Then he wanted a rocking chair picture together.
When he's not attacking Jonah to get our attention, he's actually very sweet with him.
Jonah had enough loving, so I picked him up, which made Scott cry. Sometimes they have to take turns being happy.

Jonah in September

This tiny baby has grown like a weed this month.
He started out with skinny little arms and legs.
His paci covered most of his face.
He started being very alert during the day, but sleeping like an angel at night. Usually between 12 and 7, sometimes 8. Heavenly.
I think he looks like his cousin Connor here.
Hanging out at Brian and Annie's.
I love dressing him because he keeps his accessories on.
Since Scott has been very clingy with me, Jonah has had lots of bonding time with his dad.

A rare moment of sleep in his carseat. I think it's safe to say he hates the car. We're hoping it's just a phase, but it's been several weeks of tearful driving.
Jonah only sleeps on his stomach or while held, which may be why he doesn't sleep in the carseat or stroller. He really hates being on his back.

Tired John getting Jonah to fall asleep at night. The baby carrier is the best way to get him to fall asleep. Not the most convenient, but the fastest and surest way.
He started looking at things and likes the lambie mobile in his crib for a few minutes at a time.
Mostly he just wants to be held, though. This is how we do everything unless we use the carrier.

Very distressed. Probably because Scott was nearby. You can see on his forehead where Scott scratched him. He was getting better for a few weeks, but when I was in bed for a few days I think he worsened again.
Apparently it was a plaid day.
I love when he sticks out his tongue.
We both made it through church without needing a change of clothes.
Jonah has started to smile more and more. I love his little turtley smiles.
We visited John at work and after crying the whole drive over, Jonah went right to sleep in his arms.
Even though he only seems to be content while being held, we love holding him. He's a sweet little guy.
