Uvas Canyon

One of our neighbors had a reservation for Uvas that she couldn't use and offered it to us. We were thrilled and jumped on the opportunity.

We love it there.

We hiked to a few waterfalls
by way of the creek along the trail.
If they can walk in/along water, the boys will hike forever.
Jane got down to play in the water a bit, too.
She was ready to go all in.
Next time we'll plan to go more in the water and stop on the way back to the car.
Brave explorers
Climbing rocks, crossing logs, finding snakes and banana slugs
We went to four waterfalls in all and ran into one of Scott's teachers from last year.
We're all happier when we can get outside and play.
It's a reset I look forward to every week.
Even John the pack mule loves it.
Little cubby. The kids like to gang up against us, hiding and jumping out to scare us. I appreciate their teamwork.
They could've stayed all day. We did a slower pace to have more play time, saw the waterfalls and stopped to eat our packed lunch.
With the reservation system, it wasn't crowded at all and it's totally shaded. Just perfection.
Then we had a terrifying moment where we turned paths and Jonah somehow did not. He walked along the trail back to the car and I eventually found him and brought him back. We had a refresher course on keeping put when we're lost, calling for help, paying attention, staying with the group, and he and Perry worked on memorizing my phone number.
Once we were reunited, we went down to the waterfall with the pool in the stream.
A little rock throwing and splashing in the water helped us forget some of the panic.
Scott didn't want to wear shorts or sandals, even after I told him our plans. On our walk back up to the car he asked if we could come back with swim suits.
Definitely.
