Perry's practices were usually taking turns instead of small groups, so he did not love going. He did like when it was his turn and racing the other kids.
Jonah was teaching Jane the ropes while we waited for Perry.
Jonah on first, looking like he's lunging.
Ready to run.
Scott's team cheer after batting cages. His team was full of all-star players and they really encouraged him and helped him improve all season.
Jonah improved dramatically over the last few months. Their main pitchers had overpitched in their championship games, so they had Jonah try pitching in the last game and he did great!
It wasn't perfect, but considering the amount of practice he had we were so impressed with him. He stepped up and faced a big fear under pressure and even had some strike-outs.
Jane was in it for the treats: ring pops for picking up trash, icees on hot days, after game leftover snacks from Perry or Jonah.
Their friend Joshua bought them these jumbo popsicles.
They were a sticky, staining mess, but they kept Jane happy while we could watch some of the game.
Jonah batting
and running hard. His team worked hard together and placed 2nd in our district.
Scott's last championship game overlapped with his end of year band concert.
He left his game early and showed up right in time for the concert in his bright orange socks.
Amanda came so we could all see him perform.
Her lap barely fit 3 kids.
They practiced in small co-ops based on instrument, then had a few rehearsals all together before the big performance.
The clarinets were great! Scott has really enjoyed learning an instrument and the concert was fun to see his hard work pay off.
They had cold treats after the concert since it was exceptionally hot and the concert was outside for covid safety.
We went back to the field, but the game had ended. His team won and Scott got a huge trophy and a chance to play in the tournament of champions.
It was a big week as we went to get Scott's braces off
and Jonah's on. He'd had an expander for a few months, then got a few braces added on the top.
Scott was excited to have a removeable retainer and catch up on some chewy candy.
Little Perry's last game. For some reason t-ball ran much later in the season than the older teams.
Jane made some little sister friends at the park.
And had a sno-cone.
Jonah's team had an end of year party at the park.
While Scott's team had another weekend for the ToC. They won their first game.
Then they came back a second day and were eliminated. It was very disappointing because they were not playing their best that day, but Scott did well overall. He had a base hit against a pitcher who was striking out our strongest hitters. I was really proud of him going back out there with a very lopsided score and still giving his best.
Perry's team had an ice cream party.
Then Scott's team had a pizza party at our pool as the final hurrah to baseball for the spring season. It was nearly summer! I didn't get pictures because I was in charge of the event, but it went well and the kids had a blast. We love baseball and seeing our kids play, but are also ready for some free Saturdays again.
