Scott's bottom two teeth had been loose for a while, but not making a lot of progress.
Since one of his permanent teeth was growing in, the dentist recommended pulling the baby one. We tried wiggling for a few more weeks, but eventually I made him an appointment.
I asked about pulling the second tooth as well so we could minimize some of the anxiety of him having to come in and go through it all a second time. The hygienist said it's common to do them both since they grow in pairs and recommended it, and after seeing the x-ray I agreed.
He brought Emperor Penguintine and was content watching a movie.
I paid for the nitrous oxide to help him and that was another perk of pulling two at once because it's an out of pocket cost. Plus it was already being numbed there, so it was only $31 more after insurance to pull the second one.
Scott didn't even know they used a needle, which was his biggest fear. His least favorite part was biting on this gauze on the way home and not being able to talk. He said overall his flu shot was a worse experience and more painful.
Now he has a tiny gap which he likes to put his tongue through. You can tell he's a little out of it in this picture and he was definitely drooling until the numbness wore off.
Now there's a nice opening for his teeth to more forward. Hopefully we didn't wait too long and ruin his chance for straight teeth.
The holes were already closing up the next day.
And a few days later the tooth had started coming forward a little.
Then the second tooth popped through and I knew we made the right choice to pull that side as well. It was my first time doing any dental work with kids and it was nerve wracking, but everything went smoothly and really wasn't a big deal.
Now he has a nice monster smile.
Hopefully the next ones come out on their own.
He's already hoping the top ones loosen up because he got $2 from the tooth fairy and is ready for more.
