DC Day Trips

On Monday we took the metro into DC for the day.
We went to the Air and Space Museum because John didn't get long enough last time we came and we knew the boys would love it.
Flying the plane.
Scott likes to read the displays and there were so many exhibits for kids, they could've stayed forever.
I love hands-on education.
Perry liked the little themed trash cans.

We went outside to have a snack, then came back in the see the planes.
And made our way over the space area.

Then we went to lunch at Potbelly and went in the Botanic Garden, which was amazing.
It's right next to the Capitol
where someone offered to take our picture together.
Looking the other direction with the Washington Monument in the background.

We walked back down the mall to see another Smithsonian before they closed.
I love the American History museum, so we popped in there.
Scott found Cookie Monster
and Christopher Reeve's superman suit.
Jonah and Perry wanted to ride the Batmobile.
Then I started getting a migraine, so we headed home. It was beautiful out at night.
The next morning we did it all over again.
But this time the Natural History Museum.
We toured the ocean exhibit, then met up with my friend Angela.
We went to lunch with Katie and Bee at the American Indian Museum cafe. Their little coats and skinny jeans kill me.
Then we went back over together for some extensive research on dinosaurs.
Perry and Bee did really well considering it wasn't really geared to little kids.

They all started to get restless, so we finished up and went to see some other monuments.
Our Oxford group reuinited, but missing Katie One.
Scott loved wearing his warm hat. We seldom have use for winter clothes at home.
We made it to the Washington Monument
and the National Christmas tree
in front of the White House.
It was getting really cold, so we walked over to Starbucks. Perry fell asleep on the way.
We all warmed up.
Our friends headed home and we went to a grilled cheese bar next door that was amazing.  Then we walked through the war memorials
and up to the Lincoln Memorial.
It was a great introduction to DC for the boys and we fit a lot into two days.
Back at Wendy's the next day we went to see Wreck it Ralph 2 and prepped for Thanksgiving with lots of vacuuming. With two dogs, it was a pretty constant chore, but Perry was up to the task.
On Thanksgiving, Wendy made dinner and we had pie.
Lots of pie.
And whipped cream.
Amanda flew in the night before, so we were all together for the day.
Before we knew it, our trip was over.
The flight went smoothly and naps helped pass the time, although I'm not sure how Scott could sleep like this.
