After a stressful time trying to sneakily reserve a Tesla to rent (I wasn't old enough and had to use John's phone), then rescheduling twice because he had to work, I had it delivered the Saturday before John's birthday.
My mom came to babysit and when John came home his gift was waiting in the driveway for him.
We took it up to Palo Alto for dinner at Gott's.
He took the boys for a spin around the neighborhood.
We went for a drive up Hicks road and stopped to try Thai rolled ice cream.
Looks so natural in a Tesla.
It was obviously a powerful car and fun to drive, but a lot of the features that we thought were cool are probably standard on new cars now. Everything seems flashy compared to our 12 and 14 year old cars.
We went out for a late night bowling. Any excuse to drive around some more.
After a fun night getting as many miles as we could, the owner came to pick it up.
I'm done trying to plan surprises for John for a while, but it was a fun birthday date. Now John's working on finding a way to get his own to keep. Maybe next birthday ;)
Beautiful car--it's good to have a goal!
