Pilfering olives
Scott wanted homemade pizza for his birthday dinner. His favorite is pesto sauce with pepperoni and olives.
Opening gifts
He got new running shoes, which he's excited to break in.
Perry picked out air heads for Scott's gift, which Perry is excited about.
Molten lava cakes for dessert.
The next day, we took him to Coyote Hills to celebrate his birthday with Amanda.
Running on trails and climbing rocks seemed like the best way to celebrate for him.
He and Jonah love exploring
It's a nice, open place where they can run ahead and we can still see them.
And there are some rocks for climbing
Perry gave it a thumbs up
Jonah gave it a thumbs up
Jane was a little wind-blown
Scott was too far ahead for a thumbs up or down picture. We've got to get him on a cross country team.
Perry and Jonah go at a much more leisurely pace

And she took one of all of us
She made Scott a Grogu cake, which we ate in the grass. It was a great morning.
In the afternoon, we went mini golfing, per Scott's request.
I made a reservation, but they were taking people late and it was double booked for our spot, which I was not thrilled about. It was stressful trying to move the kids along and keeping Jane out of danger.
We kept letting other people go ahead of us so we could enjoy our time with each hole.
Jane happily retrieved the ball for us and was completely oblivious to any balls flying around her.
Other than when Jane got the ball and he wasn't done with it yet, Scott had a great time, and that's what counts. He told us a play-by-play of every hole and score on the way home.
On his 9th birthday, Scott is 4 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 64 pounds. He loves bean and cheese burritos (which he always has, but he's really taken to them again lately, usually having two for lunch). His favorite show/movie right now is Phineas and Ferb and book is the Wings of Fire series. His favorite animal is still penguins and color is teal. His favorite song is Hero by Weezer and when he grows up he wants to make pancakes. He's planning to open a breakfast restaurant called The Pancake.
(fun fact, when I was 8 I also wanted to be a restaurant owner. Or a flight attendant.)
Like most kids in our area, Scott has had a challenging time missing out on a lot over the last year, but he has really made the most of it. He loves reading books every chance he gets and playing endless board games with his brothers. He's looking forward to getting vaccinated so we can go to Disneyland and he can experience Star Wars Land.
