Bean Hollow Tide Pools

After a lot of confusing research, we were fairly sure Bean Hollow state beach was open to out of county visitors and headed out early to see the tide pools.
They were open and we got the last parking spot, so the stressful hours on the computer and driving up there paid off.
We were the only ones on the tide pool side and it was really amazing.
We found lots of creatures and cool salt residue.
Perry was very dedicated to discovering things for himself.
Fresh air, sunshine, a little exercise, a break from our house. We really appreciate our outings now.
Letting the kids explore without lots of restrictions is the best.
John is great at finding things to show us.
Jane was hesitant on her feet with the uneven surfaces, which was fine by me because of all the ledges.
Their faces after watching the huge waves spray over the rocks.
We watched many, many waves come in.
Then we headed to the beach side to see the waves up close.
We trekked out a bit to have more space from other people since it was a small beach with more people on it than we hoped.
Jane was happy to be able to roam free.
The sand was little pebbles. Not great for castles,
but Jane liked touching them.
My sunshine baby.
Having a sandy snack.
I hung out in the cabana while Jane squirmed around in the sand

and had some packed lunch.
while the boys played in the water, running from the waves.
Then she wanted to join in. She loved John lifting her up as the water came close.
Then he underestimated the size of the wave and they all got soaked.
It wouldn't be a beach trip without at least one of us getting unexpectedly wet.
We headed out after that and there were cars lined up for miles waiting for a parking spot, so great timing. We'd definitely go back for the tide pools and probably drive to a bigger, sandier beach afterwards once they're all opened again.
