24

I spent my morning like I usually do:
playing with my little bud.
I love his feet!
When I was getting him dressed I took a picture of his growing tummy.
Then we worked on a puzzle together.
Love that face.
He takes after his dad and is a good puzzler.
John's parents invited us over for beef stroganoff and presents.
I made hot milk cake with chocolate frosting because I love it and Karen had never tried one!
Alan wanted to do a binary candle formation, but settled for 2 and 4 candles.
Scott gave me the best birthday present of all by sleeping through the night! Thanks, buddy!

Easter

After a lovely morning at church, we gathered both sides of our families for dinner to celebrate Easter together. We definitely had enough food.
This was our first Easter at home. Last year we were in PA and the year before we were in Walnut Creek.
Katie with Lucas and Scott.
Amanda feeding the insatiable boy.
He and my dad looked like suit twins.
Family picture
Handsome boys
My mom and Scott
Probably my favorite outfit of his. He looks like such the gentleman.
We didn't get pictures with Mark, Karen, Alan, Ryan, John, Claudia or Dallin, but they were there and we're glad that everyone could join us.

0-6 Week Videos

I finally got around to uploading some videos this morning. I could watch them all day, but I realize they're not exciting to everyone. It is fun to see how much bigger and more coordinated he's gotten!

Two-day-old Scott hanging out on dad's chest, trying to eat everything in sight. I love his arm wrinkles and squeak at the end.
1-week-old Scott sucking on his hand and attacking his bottle. He doesn't do that head shake to find food anymore and I miss it.
Hopefully you don't find burping offensive. John was teaching 2-week-old Scott how to burp and he reacted by spitting out his pacifier. I think being blown on just startled him, but he did it every time and it cracked us up.
After being burped, 3-week-old Scott immediately looks for his next meal and starts eating John's hand.
Maybe it's mean, but I find his fussy whine entertaining. He doesn't love tummy time, which is why he's complaining. He's 5 weeks here.
5 1/2-week-old Scott seemed to be enjoying Coldplay.

Scott with some hiccups after Grandpa fed him. Almost 6 weeks old.
And a bonus movie:
Madoc teaching John how to slide down the staircase banister.

Scott's Smiles

Scott gave his dad his first big, non-gas, awake, gummy smile on April 6th.
Last night we caught some of them on film.
He mostly smiles in the mornings for me, but for John he'll bust them out any time.
He kept putting his hands up so you can't see them well.
 He makes us smile, too.
Had to include this one because he's big time cross-eyed.
You're going to want to turn your sound off for the video. John didn't know I was recording and goes to great lengths to get some smiles. I tried putting a song in the background instead but it looked weird set to music. So you've been warned.
Such a cutie!

Southern Cooking

I wanted to try a cheesy potato recipe before its Easter debut, so John fried some chicken and we invited Alan over to sample with us.
Scott rocked his whale outfit for the occasion.
And with the sweater. (weird face courtesy of me plucking the paci out)
John's been wanting to fry chicken since seeing/listening to The Help.
The potatoes were a success and made the Sunday menu. The chicken was juicy and delicious and will need to be made again soon.
Scott getting some Grandpa time. (Outfit change courtesy of his daily blow out.)
Scott smiling for Grandpa.
Grandpa sending Grandma pictures to make her jealous while she's in Utah.
Usually she's the one getting grandkid time while he's in a different state, so I think he was relishing in it.

6 Weeks

This week Scott did some more growing.
He fits into his overalls much better now.
He doesn't love tummy time, but he puts up with it.
Before:
After:
Check out the chub on those cheeks.
Scott also met Britta this week!
He was not on his best behavior (filled his diaper 3 times), but Britta still loved him.
Playing with his tongue.
This was the Cardinals' opening night.
I think he's getting balder in his old age.
He's definitely more alert for longer periods of time.
He still loves sucking on everything in his vicinity and is getting better at finding his hands.
Wrestling his swaddle
Morning stretches
He's a really happy boy in the mornings
Probably because he's so well rested.
I love this outfit on him. The pants are padded and so cozy.
Getting some snuggle time with Cousin Lizzie.
(Lizzie was asking about their relationship and I think she is his second cousin once removed upwards or he is her first cousin once removed downwards. John says they're just first cousins once removed. The more I looked it up the more confused I became, so from now on I say cousins. Wikipedia says it's colloquially appropriate.)
