10 Weeks

Scott stayed awake all through church for the first time this week. Consequently he was exhausted when we came home.
He slept in the most uncomfortable-looking positions.
He was whiny when we went to Brian and Annie's for dinner.
He played on a blanket my mom made for Ryan as a baby.
Scott is better at holding his head now and likes sitting in his chair.
Here he is after rolling over for the first time.
John propped him up on his arms and he flopped to the side and kicked his legs over.
I don't think it counts, but John and Karen were there and they say it does, so I'm outvoted.
I took all these pictures on Karen's bed and didn't get a single one showing her new bedroom set. It's beautiful.
Scott started splashing in his bath. I don't think it's intentional, but it is funny to watch.
He also whacked his own rattle on the bouncy seat. Again, not likely intentional, but he can reach it now, so that's progress.
He also wore his first 3-6 month clothes. They're (obviously) too big, but I just wanted to try on the cute hat.
And he doesn't have 0-3 month gowns, which are the best for night diaper changes.
He also experienced his first time in a pool at the Harline's house.
He just dipped his feet, but it called for the whole outfit on account of cuteness.
Britta joined us for a delicious barbecue dinner.
Some babies have blankets or stuffed animals, but Scott sleeps most soundly when surrounded by his comfort food.
Really I was walking home from Target and didn't want to carry the boxes. He does suck his thumb for comfort, although usually he likes to get his whole hand in there.
He's a perfect mixture of sweet and silly.

Hungry Boy

Scott was eying John's dinner.
And tried to eat his plate to get to it.
When that was moved, he started in on the tablecloth.
What he really wanted was these Reese's cookies, but they were as big as his head.
He settled for a couple licks of popcorn instead.
 Buttery goodness.

Baby Sharks Fan

Karyn Harline gave Scott these pajamas that look like a Sharks jersey and skates.
They're still a little big, but he needed to wear them during the playoffs.
Scott is disappointed with how the Sharks did, but is still a loyal fan.
Maybe next year.

2 Months

Scott had his 2 month check-up. He's growing right along. He's 11 lbs 8 oz (46th percentile), 23 1/4 inches long (65th percentile) and his head is 15 inches (13th percentile). So he's gotten taller than average and his head has grown a little, but his main energies seem to have focused around developing his chub.
He had three shots, which we both cried through. I didn't bother dressing him when we were done because I wanted to get us out of there. He came home and we slept on the couch together.
He was fussy and hot, so I gave him some infant tylenol. Then he slept some more.
I propped pillows next to him so I could get up and he started crying in his sleep. I picked him back up and he settled down. So he napped the whole rest of the day while I held him.
It just broke my heart to see him so upset when I'm the one who let the nurse hurt him. I remember my last tetanus shot and it was not fun at all. Poor baby. He only woke up to eat, then went back to sleep. All day and night.
So we took some growth-comparison pictures the next day when he was feeling much more himself.
He was not in a great mood
until dad gave him some grub
 then he was all smiles
 Looking at John
 Little flirt
 Amazing turnout.
And one more for good measure.
It's been another great month with Scott!

Brother Calvert

On Friday we took dinner to the Calverts. Sister Calvert was resting, but when Bishop Calvert saw that we brought Scott, he went to get her because he knew she would want to see the baby. She tried to hold him, but he's such a chunk, so I held him while she snuggled. With her eyes closed, she just held him against her and seemed to be taking him in. It was so sweet.
Bishop Calvert's turn was next. I love his smile.
It's the same smile he had when holding me as a little girl. He was an extra grandpa to me growing up when my grandparents were across the country. We stayed and visited with them until their food was cold.
He passed away in his sleep the next day from heart failure. I'm so glad we were able to visit with him one last time and he could meet Scott.

9 Weeks

I started giving Scott a few minutes here and there of independent play time. He was obsessed with the elephant rattle on Lincoln's bouncy seat. (I guess it's not really independent if I sit there hitting the rattle for him, but he can't reach yet.)
He started facing out in his carrying pack and he likes looking around.
You can see how much he's grown when he's in the pack because his head and legs stick out now.
I took my first shower this week without someone else home to watch him. He was sleeping and I was quick, but I came out to find him buried under the blankets. I had a panic attack thinking I'd killed my baby for a shower, but he was fine. He'd just burrowed down under the covers in his sleep.
We also removed the newborn insert that keeps his head from bobbling in his carseat.
Such a happy boy in his swing
He still loves eating his hands and can get them to his mouth better now. Although he's scratched his face twice already.
 All in a day's work.
Lincoln came to play with John while his mom and I went to book club. He's so big in Scott's stroller bassinet!
Scott had his shots this week and was not very happy for me.
He perked up when his dad came home, though.
John can get him to make the funniest faces.
 They're good buds.
He was almost back to normal by the next day.
He hasn't had any blowouts since we started using his bumGenius diapers, which makes all of us happier.
This was my first week without a single day of feeling sick and I enjoyed Scott more than ever. He can be a little stinker and gets spoiled rotten, but we love him to pieces.

Sunday Shoot

I wanted to get a picture with Scott in his new outfit.
Wiped out after church.
John and Scott were entertaining each other and I took pictures.
He makes the best facial expressions
John tickling him.
This one we call the little bird. He does it when he wants food, which is more often than not.
Such a sweet little guy.
