It was nice to arrive at the cabin and not need to think about meals or transfer our bags anymore. Plus, we were together in one place, which makes for some chaotic fun. Sarah and Nate weren't there, but that still left a total of 16 adults and 16 kids plus a few extended relatives who came and went.
Patient Christian helped ocd Scott decorate a gingerbread house. The rest of the kids seemed more interested in eating the candy.
Jonah joined in and they worked for a long time perfecting their masterpiece.
Perry spent a lot of time eating. The highchair kept him safe in one place and he loves food, so it was a win-win.
We played lots of board games. Scott and Grandma were very focused on their turn.
Seeing how many people could take a ride on Terry's scooter. Too many was the answer.
Julie and Christian offered to keep Perry. He wasn't so sure.
I think he would miss John too much.
He loved being held and he was the littlest one this year, so plenty of people were willing.
Enjoying a Christmas story before bed. The kids all opened and read one each night, but it was usually after Scott and Jonah were asleep, so John caught them up.
Movie time!
Perry found some tasty treats.
Julie and Christian snuggling on the couch.
And feeding little P.
John and Ashley supervising the hot tub mayhem.
Perry enjoying some fresh air.
Perry and his favorite electrical outlet.
Julie reading a Christmas book before bed.
Terri's family came over to celebrate her birthday, so I made two carrot cakes.
Perry liked this toy he could stand up and play with.
John and I wanted to take the boys to see Moana and bought tickets one afternoon. We invited everyone, but as the movie started it was just us. Then Katie's family, John's parents and a half dozen cousins piled in. We took up a couple rows.
We took the boys to this cool indoor boardwalk style place afterward and shared a dole whip. If we come back to Heber City, we'll get a day pass there because there were lots of cool activities we'd like to try.
Brotherly love. We rented a full-sized car because they were much cheaper. It was cramped and a pain to load everyone, but it worked. And we appreciate our van at home even more now.
Jonah checking out the snow sitch outside.
Soda tasting. I had no idea there were so many gross flavors of soda out there.
Cheers!
Perry had some crunchies instead.
Jonah crashed. They slept reasonably well for being away from home.
Push-up contest. I'm not sure why.
One of the piles of shoes in one of the entryways.
We only brought carry-on bags, but I was sure to make room for Scott's treasured Lego Advent calendar. He loved putting his lego together every morning.
While the little guys were sick we had some couch veg time.
I brought a few crafts for them to do indoors. We went outside and played every day, but there was lots of downtime, too.
Jonah found himself a couch to nap on.
He also took a long, warm bath in the master jetted tub. This was when I was on hold with the doctor to get him an eye drop prescription sent over.
Poor Mark looked miserably sick by the end of the trip. I made a store run for Jonah's eye drops and ended up getting decongestants, gatorade, and other medicines for various family members. It was half sad, half laughable.
Big boy Perry could reach anything we left down.
Despite the colds, stomach bug, and pink eye, we had a fun week at the cabin. We're hoping we can do a summer stay next time, but we're already looking forward to another Crapo reunion. We enjoyed spending time with everyone and love that the boys are making memories with their cousins.
Scott and Jonah can decorate a gingerbread house for me anytime! BTW, did you notice the deer in the photo of Jonah looking out the window?
