John was offered a contract job on Friday that started Wednesday, so Sunday after church we headed to Disneyland. We wanted to go before Jonah turned 3, but John won't have vacation hours and it's hotter and more crowded over the summer, so we were excited to squeeze a quick trip in.
The drive down was perfect. The boys didn't know where we were going. We stayed at the same place as last time because we had hotel points to cover the cost. In the morning, Scott recognized the breakfast place, but said we weren't going to Disneyland because Jonah wasn't three yet,
We dressed them in everything Cars and told them we were going to go see Lightning McQueen at Disneyland. I don't think they were truly excited until we were on the shuttle and it started to sink in that we were really going.
We spent most of the day at Cars Land.
John and I took turns holding Perry and doing rider swap with the boys.
It was great because the boys could ride everything twice, but only had to wait in line once.
He found Lightning!
They were a little shy up close, but talked about it excitedly afterward.
They both said Toy Story Mania was their favorite. Rick gave them a video game like it for Christmas, so they were ready. Scott actually played pretty well.
Scott is tall enough for all of the rides at California Adventure now. We were looking forward to taking him on the Radiator Springs Racers and got fast passes first thing in the morning for it. He loved it!
Jonah is tall enough for lots more rides now, but not the racers. He kept asking to go on it while Scott went with us.
Taking a quick break in the shade. It was hot in the afternoon, but cooled off quickly.
Perry could ride on several of the rides with us, like Toy Story, Little Mermaid, and the carousel. Our family still fit in one clam shell, but probably not next time when the boys are bigger.
Giving Perry some wiggle time. He slept most of the day in the pouch.
Jonah and I were waiting for Scott and John to finish their ride and we saw Mater driving back home. He was thrilled!
We went on "Mr. Potato Head Toy Story" again. Scott wanted to ride the Zurg one and didn't understand the two park concept. Since we only had 2 days, we didn't get the park hoppers.
Scott loved the bumper cars. I rented A Bugs Life from the library and showed it to them before we left so they could be familiar with the Bug's Land. That area was pretty empty, so they could go on lots of rides quickly, rather than waiting and walking a lot between the bigger rides. It never appealed to me before, but it's perfect for little kids.
After going on almost all of the rides, we walked down to Earl of Sandwich for dinner. Star Wars was everywhere, even the store displays.
We went back to the hotel and I got the boys to bed while John went to pick his mom up from the airport. I was worried about taking three little kids by ourselves, but everything went really smoothly. Disneyland caters to families and the boys were really well behaved.
