A Very Merry Christmas

Before Karen and Alan left town for Christmas, they stopped by to have dinner and exchange gifts.
Scott was really excited to rip the paper from his present.
They bought him the truck he fell in love with at the Sebras' house.
The truck is pretty loud/obnoxious, but he loves it so much.
Jonah didn't care about gifts as much as chewing his hand and being held, but he received a nice Little People Nativity set that is also tasty.
On Christmas morning, John and I woke up and made Belgian waffles with strawberries and cream for breakfast. My mom, Amanda and Russell came over and Jonah woke up in time to party.
We were at Brian and Annie's Christmas Eve party until 11 the night before, so Scott was sleeping in pretty late. We ate and opened each others' gifts, but Scott and Jonah's presents piled up on the couch. They had so many!
Scott rolled in around noon and wanted to snuggle.
Then Amanda started handing him presents to open and he perked up.
She bought him these glasses from Disneyland and was hamming it up for her.
They open into Harry Potter-looking glasses, which my nerdy heart loves.
Jonah is usually interested in watching Scott, and paper ripping was no exception.
Scott trying out his cooking apron from my mom.
Playing with Russell and stockings. Scott wanted to play, so we let him take a break from presents and just take his time all afternoon. One of the perks of being the only kid at Christmas.
Jonah sat around and chewed on wrapping paper. Next year when he's not a baby and Scott is older we'll probably have a different Christmas, but we were really enjoying this one.
When Scott finished eating we pulled out this chair from my aunts and grandpa.
He would not get out. If we wanted him to open something, we had to hand it to him in the chair. I tested it out later and he had a screaming fit. Scott's usually pretty good about sharing his toys, especially with family members, but this chair was in its own category.
Scott helped open most of Jonah's gifts, but would hand one of us the present and give Jonah the paper to chew afterward.
I thought Scott would like this mixer since he loves mine, and it was definitely a hit. He sat in his chair stirring everything in it and lost interest in present opening again.
Amanda and Russell had to break out the big guns. They bought us a wagon, which Scott left his chair to sit in.
It's a pretty swanky ride with back rests and cup holders.
John assembled it and took him for a ride. Waving bye-bye.
We talked to my dad, who hadn't made it because of a car accident, and were able to pick him up and bring him over, then Amanda and Russell had to go to their next gathering.
The five of us at dinner were much quieter than the Blank party the night before, but it was still a tasty meal and we had a nice leisurely evening together.

Rick Visits

My brother stopped over for a few days on his way to Oregon for Christmas with Jessica's family.
Scott loved having a playmate. Especially one who had access to "swish swish," which is what he calls Zelda.
Rick was playing with Jonah and Scott found a tunnel under his long legs.
We went to Christmas in the Park one night.
Scott found a reindeer friend.
 Scott liked the fire truck
and the "meow"s. They had a few cats in the Humane Society display for anyone looking to adopt.
 Scott's perplexed eyebrows.
They both look a little unsure.
Before he left we exchanged gifts with Ricky.
Scott thought playing with the big box was so fun. He looked funny trying to carry it around.
An obnoxiously large Star Wars pop tent! Just what he needed! Thanks, Rick. We'll get you back when you have kids. Seriously, though, Scott loves that thing.
He also liked rubbing Rick's hair.
He gave Scott a kid-sized Sharks jersey that is too cute. Jonah tried his onesie on for a group teal shot.
After my dad left my sister had the great idea to get a picture together, so here are the rest of us.
Scott still asks where "Ree-ree" is. Come back soon! And bring Jess next time!

Jonah 4 Months

When we came back from Portland, Jonah turned 4 months old on our 4 year wedding anniversary.
At his appointment, Jonah weighed 16 pounds 13.5 ounces (70th percentile)
was 25.25 inches tall (45th percentile)
and had a 17 inch head circumference (86th percentile).
He's a full inch shorter, but 13.5 ounces heavier, than Scott was. Although a lot of that weight could be his huge noggin because Scott's head was tiny at this age.
Jonah continues to be fussy when he's not held, but sleeps like a dream. He sleeps at least 8 hours at night, but the real treat is that he goes to sleep on his own most of the time, which took Scott 21 months to figure out.
Jonah can roll over when he feels like it and rotates himself in circles. He watches Scott while he plays and likes to be included.
I wish he'd stay a baby a little longer, but he insists on growing up.

December I

My dad gave us this "fishie" book that Scott can't get enough of lately.
I usually put a blanket under Jonah because he spits up so frequently, but didn't this time and found him licking the rug. One more reason to use a blanket.
I asked Scott to get Jonah a toy and he brought the whole basket over one at a time.
Jonah has been engaging a little more with toys, which is fun for all of us.
Sometimes the only way to get Scott to sit still for a picture is to ask him to kiss the baby.
Jonah is happy to pose for me.
Scott teaching his brother "tree," which is what he calls trees, lights and anything with the word Christmas in it.
Our friends gave us their old reusable tree which we decided to use this year for cost and time savings. All lit up with cute boys in front it looks the same to me.
When Scott comes out of his room in the morning, he gives me his sippy cup and his train blanket. Sometimes he wants to snuggle and have a drink of water, but other times it's like he's just turning it in to end the night and start his day.
I thought this train outfit would be perfect for Jonah for Christmas because it's 3-6 months, but I had to squeeze him into it. After 3 hours of church we let him out and packed it away in the too small bin.
Naptime during Sacrament meeting. We're very excited to rotate to morning church next year.
Another 3-6 month outfit. Jonah is not very tall for his age, but he sure is chunky.
Jonah does not like when we aren't holding him, but I tried out the jumper and it bought a couple minutes of happiness.
Jonah also likes to sit up with side supports, like between our legs.
I love Scott's button-down jams. I also love that both boys like to sleep in.
