Turkey

John made the turkey again this year and tried brining it.
It was very juicy and delicious, but none of the flavors really stayed through the cooking. It did make the house smell amazing, though.

Grateful

I have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Not the least of which is him:

Play Day

We went up to San Francisco for the day.
Our Tech museum passes gave us half-price admission to the Exploratorium, where John has been wanting to go since I met him.
It was basically a playground for kids like John. Above he's playing with folcrum wheel things, below a camera took a two second exposure picture.
I didn't even pretend to understand everything, but they had labels for all the exhibits so it was fun and easy to learn. I took pictures of a fraction of the displays. You can easily spend all day there.
This spinning bicycle wheel spun the chair left or right depending on the direction you held the tire. The toilet water fountain was part of the behavioral discovery section.
It tested whether you could separate your notion of a toilet from what functioned as a water fountain. John could. I could not.
Here are pictures of our faces if we had the left side doubled or right side doubled. My face is slightly more symmetrical than John's.
The dark picture isn't great, but the static from this made John's hair stand straight up.
We walked around the Exploratorium afterwards.
There was a wedding in this dome part. Such a surprisingly beautiful day for San Francisco.
Then my favorite part!
 A brownie sundae from Ghirardelli!
There's something for everyone in the city.

Books

Some of the questions I get most often are for recipes, book recommendations and what house project we're doing next. I'm putting John in charge of posting recipes and I added a page of books I've read this year (that I can remember). I'll try to update the list for anyone looking for a good read. The project one may take a while since it's a seemingly never-ending list.
